Dating back to the 13th century,
tucked anonymously off
the main A65, on the old Skipton to Kendal
Turnpike. the Marton arms nestles beneath the
imposing peak of Ingleborough.
Together with historic St.
Oswald's Church, we are part of
the charming hamlet of
Thornton-in-Lonsdale, where Sir
Arthur Conan Doyle was once
married.
It's not hard to imagine that
the inspiration for many a
Sherlock Holmes adventure was
conceived as Sir Arthur sat by
our open fire, glass in
hand.
The Martons is the ultimate
combination of great beer, good
cheer, hearty food and cosy
country accommodation in a
delightful Inn.
Ideally placed to make the most
of both the
Yorkshire Dales and the English
Lake District. and after a hard
days walking or climbing come and enjoy some
Martons hospitality.
